The Opportunity

The Plant Controller is responsible for the execution and oversight of the plant-level financial and reporting functions. This includes a variety of transactional financial activities, certain tax compliance activities and accurate and timely reporting of financial information locally and for corporate consolidation. The position supervises clerical staff who handle accounts payable, accounts receivable, and inventory. Ultimately, the position's focus is on fostering continuous improvement, managing daily financial transactions and generating monthly financial reports, and nurturing a culture of partnership between finance and plant operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Responsible for the accounting functions of the plant and insures that its execution follows Corporate accounting and finance policies and procedures. General areas of accounting responsibility are: General ledger and all supporting sub ledgers, including fixed assets, inventories, receivables, cash, prepaids, payables, accruals, and various governmental requirements.
• Leads/executes monthly financial close process, reconcilement/internal control, and reporting cycle in a grain operation/milling environment.
• Preparation of budgets, forecasts, and internal management reporting.
• Supervises/administers plant accounts payable, invoicing, accounts receivable, and banking processes and activities.
• Executes capital project tracking and reporting and supports corporate fixed asset accounting.
• Plant-level tax compliance (sales and use, property) and reporting of financial information in support of federal and state corporate income tax compliance cycles.
• Maintains monthly mill yield reporting and other plant-level performance metrics.

Essential Qualifications

• Requires Bachelor's degree in Accounting (Finance with strong accounting experience will be considered)
• A minimum of five years of broad based industry accounting experience, prefer grain or milling experience.
• CPA and audit experience are desirable.
• Three years of supervisory experience required.
• Demonstrated skill in organization, planning, problem solving, decision making, communication, project management and effective management of resources.
• Excellent interpersonal skills that allow effective working relationships with a diverse customer, colleague, and vendor population. This includes listening, written and oral communication skills.
• Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment.
• Experience with MS Dynamics SL (Solomon) a plus.
• Strong administrative and data management skills.
• Experience in food processing or manufacturing is desired.
